With immense pleasure it is announced that The Team from NUST Law Department Participated in the Sports Arbitration Moot Court Competition, held at the Madrid International Arbitration Centre, Spain and clinched the top award of “The Best Appellant Team” ranking 1st among 66 participating teams to represent the Appellant (The World Anti-Doping Agency) from all accross the globe mainly from USA, China, Spain, Australia, France, Switzerland, Singapore, India, Netherlands, Sweden, Georgia, Morocco, Mexico, Brazil, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, South Africa etc.
The team also qualified to the Semi Finals of the moot court while being the first-ever and the only team from Pakistan to represent in Sports Law and be present at the Elimination Rounds of the competition.
This team was comprised of Areej Anwar, M. Ayaan Shehryar, Waleed Shehzad, Ayesha Akber, along with Faculty Coach Haziq Ali Khan and International Coach Emiliano Olivetti from Argentina.
The Round of Sixteen and Quarterfinals took place at two different locations, which are the prestigious leading law firms Cuatrecasas and Uría Menéndez in Madrid, Spain. The Semi-Final and Final took place at the Palacio de Santoña (Madrid International Arbitration Centre).
This is the very first time that a team from Pakistan has made it this achievement at international level, specifically in the field of Arbitration.
