🎓 Principal and Dean’s Graduation Speech – NLS Commencement of 2025

In the name of Allah, Salam, and very good afternoon,

Chief Guest, DG NIPS Dr. Ashfaque Hussain Khan, Acting Registrar Brigadier Salim Daud, distinguished guests, esteemed faculty, proud parents and families, and—most importantly—our graduating class of 2025: congratulations. Today, we gather to celebrate your hard work, perseverance, and your entry into one of the most noble professions—the practice of law.

The journey to this day has been long and demanding. You’ve endured sleepless nights, endless readings, cold calls, and case briefs. You’ve argued both sides of issues until words blurred into principles. You’ve challenged assumptions, wrestled with justice, and sometimes questioned whether the law serves humanity—or whether it is humanity that must continually serve the law.
And yet, you stand here today—stronger, sharper, and wiser than when you began.

No one reaches this day alone. Graduates, please stand and turn to your loved ones in the audience—your families, friends, and loved ones. They have been your cheerleaders, confidants, and support system. Let’s give them a big round of applause to thank them for their vital role in your success. And to my colleagues in the faculty and staff, your dedication to our students’ success is the heart and soul of this institution. Thank you for everything you have done.

Law is more than statutes, precedents, and procedures. It is the living framework of civilization—the structure that protects rights, promotes fairness, and gives voice to the voiceless. As lawyers, you are not just rule technicians; you are guardians of justice. You hold the power to heal or to harm, to uphold or weaken faith in our institutions. Always choose the path that strengthens justice and integrity.

In a time when truth is often distorted and moral courage is rare, the world needs lawyers who stand for something greater than profit or prestige. Let your integrity define you. Remember that your reputation isn’t built by the cases you win, but by the honesty you bring to your arguments and the humanity you demonstrate in every decision.

As you enter courtrooms, boardrooms, NGOs, classrooms, and communities, remember: every argument you make, every client you assist, every principle you uphold has the power to shape society. Do not underestimate your impact. The law, in the hands of the just, is not just a career—it is a calling.

So, Class of [2025], stand tall. You are the future guardians of justice.
Carry your degree not as a symbol of privilege, but as a promise—to serve truth, protect the vulnerable, and pursue justice with unwavering resolve.
On behalf of the faculty and the entire Law School family—congratulations. We are immensely proud of you. Go forth and turn justice from just a word in your textbooks into a reality in the world.

*Be the best human being.

*Tell your parents often that you love them.  The word ‘love’ and Pakistani culture clash – try to minimize it.

*Gratitude is the hallmark of humanity – show gratitude and humanity in every aspect of your life!!

*And we love you. Always will!

Thank you, and congratulations once again.
